https://www.incrediblenortheastindia.com/ Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar, Sep 12 Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated Nechiphu tunnel connecting Tawang with Assam's Balipara.
The Nechiphu Tunnel is a 500-meter-long, D-shaped tunnel with a single tube and double lane. It's located at an altitude of 5,700 feet on the Balipara-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) Road in Arunachal Pradesh. The tunnel was built by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) under Project Vartak. The tunnel provides all-weather connectivity to the Tawang region. The Border Roads Organization (BRO) is also constructing the Sela Tunnel, which will be the world's longest by-lane road tunnel. The Sela Tunnel will enhance the Indian military's capabilities in combating the threat of China's Western Theater Command.
